Job matching: matching jobs come to you

  1. 1

Create a profile. Specify what you are looking for – positions, practice areas, preferred locations, working hours, salary – and what you bring: state exams, degrees, languages, career history.

  2. 2

Review suggestions. Our team reviews every profile before it is approved. After that, you receive jobs that match your preferences and the requirements of the position.

  3. 3

Connect. If you show interest in a job, that company sees your name and your documents. If both sides show interest, the chat opens. No cover letter is needed for this first contact.

What the company sees beforehand: an anonymous profile card with your qualifications, exam grades and preferences – without name, contact details or CV.

You stay in control: you can exclude companies that should not see your profile, and decline any suggestion.

Starting bonus

If an employment contract is concluded via job matching, many positions come with a starting bonus of up to 4% of the agreed annual gross remuneration, paid out after you start work. Whether there is a starting bonus, and how much, is shown for each position. The exact conditions can be found in our .

Career events: meet employers on site

At our career days at universities and specialist fairs, you meet law firms and companies in person. A short profile is all you need to register.

Important, unlike job matching: after you register, the exhibitors at this event see your name and your profile details – but not your email address or phone number. They can contact you via the platform. Other companies do not see you.

You can complete your short profile at any time and then also use job matching.

Frequently asked questions

What does Legalbrains cost?

Legalbrains is free for applicants.

Who sees my data?

On the public job board the employer stays hidden – you see its name as soon as the position is suggested to you in matching. The company first sees your profile without your name, contact details or photo. Only when you show interest does it see your name, contact details and CV. If only the company shows interest, you remain anonymous. If both sides show interest, the chat opens. At events, the exhibitors at that event see your name and profile details, but neither your email address nor your phone number.

What does Legalbrains check?

Our team reviews every profile before approval. You provide details on degrees and grades yourself; we do not verify them against certificates.

What criteria are my suggestions based on?

On your preferences (position, practice areas, preferred locations, working hours, salary) and the requirements of the position, for example degrees and, for fully qualified lawyers, minimum exam scores.

I have taken my second state exam, but the grade is still pending.

How Legalbrains works for employers

Online matching with a success-based placement fee instead of a classic job advertisement.

Reach suitable legal professionals – for law firms, companies and public authorities, online through matching and in person at career events, with one account for your whole team.

How it works in four steps

  1. 1

Create an account. Register as an employer and confirm your email address.

  2. 2

Create your law firm, company or authority – or request access. If your organisation is already with us, request access; otherwise create it.

  3. 3

Enter a position – we approve it. We review every position before it is published.

  4. 4

Receive suggestions and get in touch.

Already know Legalbrains?

We have transferred your profile and your job suggestions. The principle is the same: matching jobs come to you, and companies only see your name once you show interest.

What's new:

  • a new, consistent interface
  • Career events: meet employers in person at career days, register with your existing profile
  • Training: digital courses on exams, starting your career and legal practice – coming soon

Your access: sign in with your previous email address. The first time, you set a new password once – via on the sign-in page. For security reasons, we could not transfer your old password.

Indicate this in your profile. Until the grade is available, your score from the first state exam counts provisionally.

Can I also search for jobs myself?

Yes. You can find all publicly advertised positions on the job board.

Suitable candidates appear as suggestions; if interest is mutual, you write to each other in the chat.

Job matching

  1. 1

Post a position. Positions, practice areas, location, working hours and salary, plus your requirements: required degrees and, for fully qualified lawyers, minimum exam scores. We review the position and approve it.

  2. 2

Receive suggestions. You see candidates whose profile our team has reviewed, who meet your requirements and are looking for exactly this kind of position – initially as an anonymous profile card with qualifications, exam grades and preferences.

  3. 3

Contact. If a person shows interest in your position, you see their name, contact details and documents. If you show interest too, the chat opens.

Frequently asked questions

Who are the candidates?

Legal professionals whose profile our team reviewed before approval. The details on degrees and grades are provided by the candidates themselves.

Why don't I see a name at first?

Many candidates are searching discreetly. They decide for themselves when to reveal their identity – which is why they are open to suggestions.

What does it cost?

The terms are listed above on this page under “Terms”. Event participation, employer branding and job advertisements are separate offers with their own terms.
